Progressive's "Airtail" air supported Softail suspension has Progressive's conventional steel spring in one shock and a unique double air chamber in the other. The double air chamber allows you to pump in the correct amount of air to compensate for the rider and any passengers weight. But if the rider wants to lower their Softail, air can be added to the other chamber to get the desired height. The advantage of this set up is that even in the lower position, the load carrying air chamber retains its pressure allowing bottoming resistance. Airtail shocks come complete with manual fill air valve ready to install. The optional compressor kit allows you to lower or raise the bike while riding with the turn of a switch. The optional compressor kit includes and air pump, electric switches, connectors, and all air lines and replacement coil cover bracket that houses the metering gauge and control switches. These 422 series shock absorbers are a pair of steel bodied, monotube dampers, wrapped with a black powder coated, progressive rate steel coil spring. The dampers feature a nitrogen charge, that eliminates cavitation, and creates a consistent ride performance, with no fading. The 422 series is a fully adjustable softail shock, with adjustable ride height and spring preload. the shocks are impressive with a show chrome quality cover that includes 4 ports for coil spring visibility.
